SIMPLE PLEASURES

The kiss of the sun
The song of a bird
The smell of a rose
A fresh cup of coffee
A smile on another's face
These are all simple pleasures
Things that make life so sweet
The warmth of a fire on a winter's day
Or a cool breeze when summer is intense
A hand reaching out in love
A gift given for no reason at all
Little things that make our existence worthwhile
A song sung by a child
A butterfly floating by
The soft and gentle rain of spring
The caress of a cat's tail as it walks by
All are a small fraction of God's love
Given in small measure
For each of us to treasure
